How can a person love something/someone that does not love it back?
Is it wrong to expect returned affection?
And if that 'love' is returned is it for the right reasons or is there more to it than that?
At the end of the day we never know, we just love, sometimes blindly, without understanding the complexities and subtleties of this 'love'. In the end will it be worth it? Will it make us or will it break us?
I love my country, but does it love me?

So profound! Why the title though?
Marianne is the personification of liberty and reason (in France)... Its about having free will and being conscious about it... The ability to make a difference because we understand the power we possess... That kinda thing... But this is quite an interesting post, because i had an afterthought... I mean... if you love something... like truly, madly, deeply, you really shouldn't be expecting anything in return should you? otherwise wouldn't it defeat the purpose and meaning of love?
Malice after-thought. I think not!
It does not invalidate love if you expect something in return. We can love doing something for an example but if it does not reap the benefits of doing so, it becomes a disappointment. I think expectations and love is an intertwined thing and are not mutually exclusive. Saying that you can love unconditionally without any expectations no matter how little or many expectations would be cheating oneself. But of course I need to re-read this post. I jumped to the comments after glancing through. Hows life!?
this is such an old post! how come the sudden comment?
